Simple Minds recopilan 35 años de canciones en ‘Celebrate’

La banda escocesa Simple Minds lanza el 26 de marzo ‘Celebrate – The Greatest Hits+’, una colección que recorre de manera completa 35 años de exitosa carrera con canciones como ‘Promised You A Miracle’, ‘Glittering Prize’, ‘Waterfront’, ‘Sanctify Yourself’, ‘Belfast Child’, ‘Mandela Day’, ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ o ‘Alive & Kicking’.

El recorrido, aderezado con dos composiciones nuevas tituladas ‘Blood Diamonds’ y ‘Broken Glass Park’, comienza con el debut discográfico de la banda en 1979, con ‘A Life in a Day’. Siguieron años de creatividad post-punk, grandes conciertos en estadios de todo el mundo en la segunda mitad de los ochenta, y la velocidad de crucero de los años posteriores con su popularidad en un punto medio.

‘Celebrate-Greatest Hits+’ se lanza en dos formatos: un 2CD con 36 canciones y un 3CD con 50 canciones, que incluye una versión de Patti Smith (‘Dancing Bareffot’). Simple Minds (Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Mel Gaynor, Andy Gillespie y Ged Grimes) comienza el 28 de marzo una gira por Reino Unido que se extenderá hasta el 4 de mayo.

A lo largo de su trayectoria, la banda ha liderado las listas británicas media docena de veces con sus álbumes de estudio ‘Sparkle In The Rain’ (1984), ‘Once Upon A Time’ (1985) y ‘Street Fighting Years’, así como con el EP ‘Ballad Of The Streets’ (1989), el álbum en directo ‘Live In The City Of Light’ (1987) y el recopilatorio ‘Glittering Prize 81/92’. En 2009, la banda volvió al Top Ten británico con ‘Graffiti Soul’, su último álbum de estudio.
